solvent recovery for converting industries

DEC.SRU™ ♻️ SRU | SRS | SRP

Solvent Recovery Units (DEC.SRU™), also known as Solvent Recovery Systems (SRS) or Solvent Recovery Plants (SRP), are VOC emission control devices used to recover solvents exhausted from converting machines, minimizing environmental impact and maintaining cost-effectiveness.

DEC.SRU™ tackles VOC emissions head-on by capturing solvents directly from the exhaust stream of converting lines (helio, roto, flexo). These recovered solvents are then directly reused as dilutants in the converting process.

This innovative approach not only ensures compliance with environmental regulations but also promotes sustainable converting practices.

The true value of DEC.SRU™ lies in its cost-effectiveness. By enabling the infinite reuse of solvents at a fraction of their original purchase price, these units significantly reduce or even eliminate the need for fresh solvent purchases. This translates to substantial long-term savings and a strong return on investment (ROI).

Converting in the context of helio or flexible packaging refers to the process of transforming raw materials, such as films, papers, and foils, into finished flexible packaging products. It involves several steps to shape, print (rotogravure and flexo), lamination, and finish the materials into the desired packaging format. The converting process plays a crucial role in creating functional and appealing flexible packaging solutions.

benefits | solvent recovery for converting • DEC.SRU™

Solvent Recovery Units (SRU | SRS | SRP) stand out as the premier solution for printers seeking to minimize solvent emissions (VOCs) in a sustainable way. Unlike alternative VOC emission control methods (thermal oxidizers), DEC.SRU™ avoids the generation of greenhouse gases (including CO2, NOx), contributing to a truly DECarbonized converting process.

Beyond environmental benefits, DEC.SRU™ offers a range of additional advantages for printers:

  • Reduced Operating Costs: by enabling the continuous reuse of solvents, DEC.SRU™ significantly reduces or eliminates the need for solvent purchases. This translates to substantial long-term cost savings.
  • Improved Air Quality: by capturing and reusing solvents, DEC.SRU™ significantly reduces VOC emissions released into the atmosphere, while contributing to cleaner air for your employees, neighbours, and the wider community.
  • Compliance with Regulations: by helping printers stay ahead of increasingly stringent environmental regulations governing VOC emissions.
  • Reduced Environmental Impact: by minimizing reliance on "fresh solvents" and greenhouse gas emissions lessens your business's overall (direct and indirect) environmental impact. This fosters a more sustainable converting practice and demonstrates your commitment to environmental responsibility.
  • Strong Return on Investment (ROI): the combination of cost savings, improved efficiency, and environmental benefits makes DEC.SRU™ a financially sound investment. The payback period can be quite fast, typically within a few years, directly tied to your solvent usage (as dilutants and as quota contained in inks). Higher solvent consumption translates to faster returns due to greater savings on solvent purchases.
  • DEC.SRU™ goes beyond simple emission reduction. It empowers printers to achieve true environmental sustainability, while optimizing their operations for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

    the process • DEC.SRU™

SLA (Solvent Laden Air) is pushed by the fan(s) through a multi-adsorber (activated carbon) system, to allow a high efficiency VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) capture.

Once the adsorbent is saturated (automatically monitored by a VOC analyzer), the system is automatically cleansing the adsorbent, through the best-in-class inert-gas DEC.RSG™ regeneration cycle: the system is using an exclusive DEC.PHD™ dehydration process (in gaseous phase), allowing the direct recovery of an anhydrous solvent mix (DEC.LHP™ process).

DEC.SRU™ is equipped of the DEC.THR™ (waste heat energy recovery modules), powered by DEC.ULP™ | DEC.UltraLoop™, determining the lowest operating costs in the market.
