heritage timeline • built on 100+ years of industrial innovation
DEC • Dynamic Environmental Corporation™ traces its origins back to the 1920s, when C.E.C.A. (Carbonisation Et Charbons Actifs), a pioneer in activated carbon technologies, was incorporated. Known historically as "Depurazione Emissioni per l'industria Chimica", as "Depurazione Emissioni Convogliate", and then as "DEC Impianti", the company has consistently focused on industrial air treatment. This expertise was strengthened over the decades through continuous innovation in solvent recovery and volatile organic compound, VOC, emission control systems. By 1988, DEC expanded its engineering and environmental capabilities by inheriting the Peabody GCI and CECA activated carbon processes (Département Entreprise, TG/TGI). In 1996, the modern DEC identity was adopted, reflecting its international growth and leadership in environmental engineering. Today, the company stands as the global benchmark, known for delivering next-generation, market-leading sustainable Air Pollution Control solutions.

our history | DEC
In the aftermath of World War II, a family of entrepreneurs in Milan (Italy), embarked on a remarkable journey of restoration. Mr. Angelo Giorgetti, a once-thriving businessman, had been stripped of his family businesses and wealth by the devastating conflict. However, amidst the ruins of a war-torn nation, as Italy emerged from the chaos of war, the dawn of the Italian Republic in 1946 marked a new beginning, igniting a spirit of resilience and determination within the family, rekindling our entrepreneurial spirit, breathing new life into our businesses.

Through collective dedication and hard work, our family resurrected the company, propelling it to newfound success: as the company flourished, expanding its reach and product offerings, it quickly established itself as one of the most successful business families in its field.
As the family grew, so did our business interests, leading to the creation of diverse branches and companies: in the 1980s, recognizing the potential of emerging environmental technologies, the family boldly ventured into the realm of chemistry, a decision that would propel DEC [as "Depurazione Emissioni Convogliate" (1966-1988), formerly "Depurazione Emissioni per l'industria Chimica" (1946-1966)], to new heights and solidify its global presence.

our present | DEC
DEC (Dynamic Environmental Corporation) is nowadays an Italian multinational Group that specializes in the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance (including retrofit and revamping) of advanced industrial and sustainable air pollution control systems: despite our global stature, DEC remains deeply rooted in our family heritage, our core values echoing the entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering work ethic of our founding ancestors, led by management of the third-generation.
Wherever you are, DEC will serve you with processes, technologies and products that make life easier, more efficient and more profitable for your business: DEC has expanded its customer services to become an ever-present reliable source of support and problem solving for users of DEC's activated carbon Solvent Recovery Units, while our global network of facilities and partners has allowed for timely delivery to Customers in every corner of the world.

our future | DEC
DEC is well-positioned for the future: thanks to a strong track record of innovation and customer service, we are fully focused and committed to sustainability and we aim to continue to be the leading provider of sustainable VOC emission control solutions, in the years to come.
Through our commitment to innovation and our focus on sustainability, we are projected in the future and willing to continue to make a positive impact on the world.

a legacy of innovation
How far back does DEC's Air Pollution Control technologies go?
DEC's Air Pollution Control technologies lineup reflects more than 100 years of innovation, tracing back to the 1920s, when the first worldwide application of activated carbon solvent recovery was introduced, pre-manufactured in workshops and delivered as skid-mounted systems.
When was DEC (Dynamic Environmental Corporation) founded?
DEC is rooted in 1946 in Milan, Italy, through the Giorgetti-Formigoni family. It originally operated as 'Depurazione di Emissioni per l'industria Chimica' (1946–1966), 'Depurazione Emissioni Convogliate' (1966–1988), 'DEC Impianti' (1988–1996), and 'DEC • Dynamic Environmental Corporation' (1996–present).
What does DEC specialize in today?
DEC (Dynamic Environmental Corporation) is today a global leader in advanced industrial Air Pollution Control systems, specializing in VOC solvent recovery units (SRU), thermal oxidizers (XTO), Rotary Bed Concentrators (RBC), activated carbon (ACA) vapor phase adsorption, and sustainable environmental engineering solutions for industry worldwide.
What is the connection between DEC and CECA (Carbonisation Et Charbons Actifs)?
CECA (Carbonisation Et Charbons Actifs) was a pioneer in activated carbon technologies incorporated in the 1920s. In 1988, DEC inherited the Peabody GCI and CECA activated carbon processes (Département Entreprise, TG/TGI), significantly strengthening its expertise in VOC emission control, through solvent recovery.
What is the connection between DEC and Peabody (Peabody International Corporation, Peabody GCI)?
In 1988, DEC expanded its engineering and environmental capabilities by inheriting the Peabody and CECA activated carbon processes. Peabody International Corporation (through Peabody GCI) was the predecessor entity whose solvent recovery technologies and processes were integrated into DEC's portfolio.
What is the relationship between DEC, CECA and Peabody?
DEC's 100+ year industrial heritage connects four organizations: S.R.E.P. (est. 1924, France) → parent of CECA S.A. (est. 1928, France), pioneer in activated carbon; Peabody International Corporation (est. 1920, USA), global leader in air pollution control; and DEC (est. 1946, Milan, Italy). In 1988, DEC unified these technology heritages, becoming DEC • Dynamic Environmental Corporation, today the global leader in Air Pollution Control processes and technologies related to VOC abatement, including solvent recovery units (SRU), thermal oxidizers (XTO), and VOC Rotary Bed Concentrators (RBC).
