DEC.SBC™ • static bed concentrators
DEC.SBC™ (static bed concentrator) is a type of air pollution control device that is used to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air streams. SBCs work by passing the contaminated air stream through a bed of adsorbent material, such as activated carbon or zeolite (see DEC.AFU™ • adsorbent filtering unit): the VOCs are adsorbed onto the adsorbent material, and the clean air stream is then exhausted to the atmosphere.
The concentrated VOC, once desorbed, can be efficiently treated in a VOC treatment system.

What is a DEC.SBC™ static bed concentrator?
DEC.SBC™ (static bed concentrator) is a type of air pollution control device used to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air streams. SBCs work by passing the contaminated air stream through a bed of adsorbent material, such as activated carbon or zeolite, so the VOCs are adsorbed onto the adsorbent material while the clean air stream is exhausted to the atmosphere.
When is an SBC the right choice compared to LEL recirculation systems?
DEC.SBC™ is the ideal process for treating large volumes of air with a small concentration of solvents, typically 0.1÷0.5 g/Nm3. It is not usually considered an alternative to LEL recirculation systems (DEC.LEL™), which are designed for different concentration and flow profiles.
What happens to the VOCs once they are concentrated by the SBC?
Once desorbed from the adsorbent bed, the concentrated VOC stream can be efficiently treated in a downstream VOC treatment system, such as a solvent recovery unit or thermal oxidizer.
How does DEC.SBC™ differ from DEC.RBC™ and DEC.FBC™?
DEC.SBC™, DEC.RBC™, and DEC.FBC™ are all part of DEC's XBC™ concentration systems family, differing in how the adsorbent bed is configured: static (fixed), rotary (wheel), or fluidized. The right configuration depends on air flow rate, solvent concentration, and the specific process requirements of the application.
