DEC.CMS™

Carbon Molecular Sieves

DEC.CMS™ • Carbon Molecular Sieves

DEC.CMS™ • Carbon Molecular Sieves are a type of porous carbon material with a high surface area and a narrow pore size distribution. This makes them ideal for a wide range of applications, including gas separation (see DEC.N2G™ (nitrogen generators)).

CMSs work by a process called adsorption. Adsorption is the process by which a gas or liquid molecule attaches to the surface of a solid. In the case of CMSs, the gas or liquid molecules are attracted to the carbon atoms on the surface of the material. The size of the pores in CMSs is such that only molecules that are smaller than the pore size can enter the material. This allows CMSs to selectively adsorb certain gases, while rejecting others (e.g. Oxygen versus Nitrogen).

DEC.CMS™ • Carbon Molecular Sieves: versatile material with a wide range of applications. They are used in a variety of industries, including the chemical, pharmaceutical, and environmental sectors. CMSs are adsorbents [such as DEC.ACA™ (activated carbon), DEC.MZA™ (molecular sieves), DEC.PRA™ (polymeric resins), etc.] which are an ideal tool for specific gas separation.
